Historic Motor Racing
Classic Wheels Berlin currently campaign 3 homologated race cars which conform to the DMSB handbook, section K. Since 2001 our team has competed in the “Historic Long-distance Cup”, over 8 races ranging from 3 hours to 750 miles, for GT and Touring cars constructed before 1971. Our MG B race cars are entered in Category 8, for GT cars with up to 2 litres capacity, built between 1962 and 1965.
For further information see the “FHR -Historic Motorsport Drivers Association ”.
The Long-distance Cup features both small and large displacement race cars in the same race, albeit in different categories. The races are a regular feature of many international events, such as the Oldtimer Grand Prix, the Six Hours of Spa-Francochamps and the Oldtimer Festival. Approximately 65 historic racing cars participate, including examples of Austin Healey, Alfa Romeo, Abarth, Aston Martin, BMW, Chevrolet, Ford, Lancia, MG, Jaguar, Opel, Porsche, Renault-Alpine, TVR and Volvo, to name but a few.
750 mile Long-distance racing has it’s own historic character. During the ’70s it was the domain of the GTs and Touring Cars, jockeying for position around the famous Nordschleife of the Nürburgring. For the last decade this traditional distance has been hotly contested by Historic Racing Cars. Our aim is to further the increasingly complex sport of Historic Motor Racing in a comradely atmosphere, and with a healthy dose of enthusiasm and ambition.
